Happy Monday!

DSC_0251

I had all kinds of things on my to do list today, but this little fella has a scratchy throat and a faucet nose!

My sweet little Samuel has a stuffy nose too, and had the worst night of his entire life!!!

(sounds much more dramatic if you don’t remember that he is only 3 weeks old…)

DSC_0252

So we road some bikes around the cul-de-sac, did puzzles, books, and art.

My to do list now only consists of “Make it to nap time”

DSC_0253

(And if those little angels don’t stop talking and fall asleep before their baby brother gets hungry, I suspect it will change to “Cry and then make it to bedtime.”)

.

These pictures cheer me up.

DSC_0254

(For the record, here was Isaac about 20 seconds before the other pictures were taken, when we told him he couldn’t take his ride-on motorcycle in the van.)

(And 5 seconds after that)

The boys meet Samuel

Just so you know- this has a LOT of pictures.  I loved them all.

DSC_0103

(waiting to meet his brothers)

.

A lady from the hospital had just come in to talk to me about…something…when I heard Isaac’s loud hoarse voice in the hallway.  I interrupted her and told her that she needed to leave because my kids were coming in to meet their baby.

DSC_0092

Come to think of it, she never came back.  So let’s hope she wasn’t talking about anything important!

When Joseph met Isaac two and a half years ago, he was happy, interested in the baby, and then proceeded to ignore him for the next year.  (remember when he was shocked when “that baby! hers crawling!”?)

But, this time around, these boys love, love, LOVE their baby brother!

(almost to death)

(he is in the sling a lot)

(Joseph makes this face when he feels awkward/ embarrassed/ nervous)

.

They are constantly wanting to hold him, kiss him, and wanting to look at the fact that “she has no teeth!”  (we are still struggling with  pronouns, obviously.)

(You can see Brian’s newly broken finger in this above picture. Broken 3 days before Samuel was born, and preventing him from completing his “Before Baby To Do List.”  Sigh.)

DSC_0126

If the baby is down out of my arms, they are in his business.

DSC_0131

DSC_0142

And I am trying to perfect the “loving-stiff-arm” move.

DSC_0140

(Isaac saying, “Can I hold her?”)

DSC_0146

Isaac is particularly thrilled about his new “Big Brother” role.

DSC_0154

DSC_0153

You know how I mentioned that he has a LOUD and HOARSE voice?  Poor Samuel is learning what it sounds like right next to his ear, and without the filter of the womb.

DSC_0157

(those meaty hands just kill me with their cuteness.)

.DSC_0163

But Isaac is quick to tell him, “Sorry I scared you!  I forgot!” along with some reassuring head strokes.

DSC_0161

He also kisses “her” two billion times a day.

DSC_0165

And- SECRET THAT WE JUT DISCOVERED- when he kisses Samuel, he secretly licks him quickly too.

(We noticed the wet hair patches after the kisses)

DSC_0185

Also they both love to tell him “It’s okay!  I’m here!” when Samuel cries.

Basically, we all love this little fella like crazy!

DSC_0174

(I want to lick him a little too.)

Bits and Pieces

Catching up a bit!

DSC_0326

Yesterday I carried on a 10 minute conversation with our neighbors, talking about how three kids were no big deal so far- and when I came in I realized that my shirt was on inside out.  And the ponytail was not as camouflaging to my two-day-dirty hair as I imagined.

I think they may suspect that I’m lying.

DSC_0325

(long, long nails at birth.  Dude was clearly overcooked.)

.

Joseph has a pair of boxer briefs that he loves, loves, loves and refers to as “his favorite undies.”

Every night after bath/shower, he asks if his “favorite undies” are clean, and lately the answer has been no.  Finally a few days ago, I excitedly told him that yes! they are clean tonight!

To which he replied, “Interesting!  So, to clean a pair of undies, it takes about 4 days!”

.DSC_0316

Joseph has also suggested that we refer to Samuel as “waaahmuel”.

Although, really folks, other than 7pm-midnight, he is an ANGEL!

DSC_0319

(fuzzy eyebrows!!)

.

The rains have started here in the Portland metro area.  I would call them the autumn rains, but any Oregonian knows that they are actually the autumn-winter-spring-and early summer rains.

I am so happy they are here!  Rain on the roof, cozy fires, sweatshirt season, pumpkins, apples, Halloween on the horizon, Christmas after that, AND a new sweet smelling newborn that is ALL MINE?!  I am so blessed.

(Seriously, LONGEST BABY TOES EVER.)

Breastfeeding is my life

Alternatively titled: Call before you come over because I have a breast hanging out.

DSC_0179

DSC_0177

Did you know that you are supposed to feed your newborn an average of 8 times a day?

DSC_0127

And, at least for my little sleepy guys, each session (including a diaper change) lasts about an hour.

DSC_0128

Totaling 8 hours a day!

DSC_0112

Basically I have a new full time job.

DSC_0115

An ADORABLE new full time job!

DSC_0152

That makes my nipples bleed.
